Ellen has loved toys since she was young. Some of her favourite childhood memories are of playing characters with friends, inventing roles and letting imagination turn ordinary situations into something completely different. That feeling of play never really disappeared. It became one of the foundations of how she creates today.

Many noname studio ideas begin with something very familiar, especially food. A cookie, a bee or another everyday shape might become the starting point, but Ellen rarely stops at making it simply cute. She adds a strange thought, a silly expression, a little ritual or interactive detail and slowly gives the object a personality of its own.

Those characters live together in noname TOWN, a place filled with residents who are strange, colourful and very comfortable being themselves. The world does not take itself too seriously. Characters work, eat, travel, get tired, procrastinate, try to look cool and sometimes behave in ways that feel suspiciously familiar to anyone dealing with everyday adult life.

Mr. John, for example, is a cookie office worker who traded his candy for a red tie and now gets through busy days with coffee while waiting for the next holiday. The Soft Cookies work in the same company and use their colourful toppings almost like outfits, constantly trying different looks and finding their own way to “Be A Coolkid.”

Then there is Super Bee. While the other bees are busy working, Super Bee is just as busy finding good food, travelling and enjoying life at its own pace. Its signature gesture and permanently silly expression give people a humorous way to express the feelings they do not always want to say out loud. Across all of Ellen’s characters, the humour matters, but so does the warmth behind it. She wants the work to make people smile, feel a little more relaxed and find something fun in an otherwise ordinary day.
